Happy baby-She LOVES Disneyland

We took Addie to Disney again to celebrate her cast removal. It was even more fun than the first time if that's possible :) The Mad Hatter and Alice stopped to say hi and the Mad Hatter was convinced that she had "acorns on her cheeks" tee hee!! I think this time around she liked the Enchanted Tiki Room and Finding Nemo Submarine the best.

GOODBYE CAST!!!

Addie had her cast removed today after 12 looooong weeks! She didn't seem to be bothered by the cast saw but she definitely did not like being moved around for them to take it off. When it came time to xray they made me hold down her newly freed legs and she was NOT happy! I think that was probably her least favorite part. Her hip socket looks good and it is making very good progress. She will have to wear a brace full time for a little while and then only at night for up to 2 years. We will continue to see the Dr. and treat the hip until it is completely fixed. It could take until she is 4 or 5. We are very grateful that the closed reduction and cast worked and that there are no more casts in our future.....

DISNEYLAND!!

We took Addie on her !st trip to Disneyland and we all had an amazing time. It was a little busier that we are used to, but it was so fun to see her reaction to all the characters, people and rides. She really liked "Small World" and her favorite character was Goofy. She even gave him a high five. She was a hit with all the Disney workers who all stopped to say hello and many people were so excited about her pink toenails and her "relaxed" position in her stroller. I don't think they realized that she was in a cast.
All in all, it was a GREAT trip and we can't wait to go back.

First tooth

Addie finally had her first tooth break through....we have been thinking it would happen for a few months. It was relatively easy-it wasn't there in the morning and then it was in the afternoon. :)

Addie and GG chatting

We went to the lunch buffet at the M Resort and Addie had a lovely chat with her GG. The buffet was awesome! Highly recommended!!!

Storytime.....

Surgery and cast change

Addie got her cast changed today. She did really great and her cast is now above the knee. She especially loved the little red wagon they let us use before surgery. We had to wait 2 extra hours for our surgeon to finish his previous surgery and made about 100 laps in the wagon.

I finally held my own bottle!!!

Addie is finally starting to hold her own bottle. She has known how to do it for a while, she would just rather play than hold it.

Addie got to wear a few new outfits this week, she is super cute!

M&M world

Addie visited M&M world today. She loved it with all the bright colors and things to look at. We took our Pikkolo baby carrier instead of our stroller and it was so awesome!! We love it!

First "real" cast problem

So last night during my nightly "flashlight check" i discovered that Addie had a horrible red oozy patch on the fat roll of her right thigh. Needless to say, I FREAKED OUT!! My instinct was to pack her up and rush to the emergency room but my concern with that was that they would cut the cast off and then we would be back to square one. My Dr. would probably kill me if that happened! So I calmed down a little bit and called the Dr. to see what he thought. He said these type of skin irritations are completely normal and that I should not worry about it too much unless she becomes irritable or gets a fever or if it starts to look infected. The irritation is caused by moisture on her skin. I am 99% positive that nothing is getting on her from the diaper so I think it must be sweat. It could also be my obsession with trying to keep the cast clean and smelling good and that I am over washing inside it and not drying her well enough. He recommended that I dry it out as well as I can and put some aquaphor or neosporin on it. This morning it looks alot better. I hate to think what is under that cast in places I cannot see........I am going to try my new cast cooler today and see if that works any better.

***UPDATE***
as of Monday 6/28, the skin irritation is pretty much cleared up! YAY!! I just kept it really dry and instead of washing the inside of the cast with a wet wash cloth, I have been lightly washing it with a baby wipe and then drying it really well with the blow dryer. I also put a little aquaphor on it. Hopefully, we won't have anything else like this happen.
